SMM, March 21: According to market feedback, the weekly production of sample silicon plants in Xinjiang was 38,130 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 79%, showing a significant WoW increase. The main reason for this is the release of production from previously restarted silicon metal capacity by major plants within the region, driving an increase in the output of regional sample silicon enterprises. There were individual cases of production cuts at Yili sample silicon enterprises during the week. On Friday, news about production cuts at major silicon metal plants emerged, and subsequent attention will be on the implementation of these cuts.
The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in north-west China was 10,760 mt, with a steady weekly operating rate of 79%, down WoW. The statistical regions in north-west China include Qinghai, Ningxia, and Gansu. During the week, sample silicon enterprises in the north-west region experienced production cuts or halts due to sluggish market conditions, and there is an expectation of a slight decrease in production next week. New orders were sluggish during the week, and in-plant inventory showed a trend of accumulation.
The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Yunnan was 1,770 mt, with a steady weekly operating rate of 21%. The operating rates of sample silicon enterprises in Yunnan remained stable during the week, and the selection bias of samples resulted in the operating rate of sample silicon enterprises being much higher than the overall operating rate in the Yunnan region.
The weekly production of sample silicon enterprises in Sichuan was 0 mt, with a weekly operating rate of 0%. Currently, there is no ongoing production at sample silicon enterprises in Sichuan. A few silicon furnaces outside the sample in Leshan and other areas were restarted during the week, while other silicon enterprises have no intention of resuming production in the near future, keeping the regional operating rate low.
